Raiders agree to 2-year deal with S Usama Young (by Josh Dubow, Associated Press)…The Raiders agreed Saturday on a two-year deal to keep free-agent safety Usama Young after an injury-shortened first year in Oakland. Agent Andy Simms said on Twitter that Young will sign the deal to stay in Oakland. The Raiders have not made an announcement because the contract has not yet been signed. (read more)

Dane Fletcher to visit Raiders  (by Mike Reiss, ESPN)…Free-agent linebacker Dane Fletcher is scheduled to visit the Oakland Raiders and will head to town Sunday. Fletcher, who led the Patriots in special-teams tackles last season (15) and played 18 percent of the defensive snaps (primarily as a sub/coverage player), previously visited with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gauging four potential Raiders QBs  (by Paul Gutierrez, ESPN)… has learned that Oakland has targeted four such QBs, in this order – Matt Schaub, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman and Michael Vick. It is interesting to note that Schaub and Sanchez are not yet free agents as neither has been cut by their respective team … yet. (read more)

Rodger Saffold invites media into weight room to prove his shoulder is fine  (by Josh Hill, FANSIDED)…“My shoulder feels great,” Saffold said Friday. “And if you (reporters) have any more questions, you guys can come into the weight room. I’ll be with Rock on Tuesday.” (read more)

Despite signing an NFL deal, Kory Sheets is still working an offseason oil job in Saskatchewan (by Andrew Bucholtz)…“I need to pay bills,” he said with a laugh. “I didn’t get a signing bonus so I had to come up here and work.” Sheets has spent his off-season working with a trucking company out of Carnduff—in the south east corner of the province near the US border—that provides rig-moving services in the oilfield.
